Hoje vamos rever um assunto muito interessante.O reported speech (discurso indireto) que aparece no material EJA Mundo do Trabalho no 2º ano do Ensino Médio e é muito utilizado para contar fatos que você ouviu de outras pessoas.
Reported speech, ou discurso indireto, é contar
para alguém o que a outra pessoa falou.
Por exemplo:
Eu quero fazer a prova. ( I want to do the test.)
Ele disse que ele queria fazer a prova. (He said that he
wanted to the test.)
Assim como em português, o reported speech acompanha
algumas regras gramaticais para ser usado de maneira correta.Portanto preste atenção aos verbos utilizados, pois eles normalmente se alteram.

No discurso indireto não é necessário usar palavras como
that nas frases. A utilização é opcional.
Exemplos:
Present Simple - I like your new car. (Eu gosto do seu carro novo.)
Past Simple - He said (that) he liked my new car (Ele disse que gostou do meu carro novo.)
Present Continuous - “I am eating cake”, she said.(“Eu estou comendo bolo”, ela disse.)
Past Continuous - She said (that) she was eating cake.(Ela disse que estava comendo bolo.)
Simple Past - She said "He worked with me."(Ela disse : "Ele trabalhou comigo".)
Past Perfect - She said that he had worked with her. (Ela disse que ele tinha trabalhado com ela.)
Explicação
A partir dos exemplos acima, podemos notar que algumas
palavras se alteram com o discurso indireto.
Mudança de pronomes
We are meeting at my house. (Nós estamos nos encontrando na minha casa.)
She said that they were meeting at her house.
(Ela disse que eles
estavam se encontrando na casa dela.)
Mudança de lugares
I got here by train. (Eu
cheguei aqui de trem.)
He said he had got there by train. (Ele disse que ele
chegou lá de trem).
Outras modificações:
today - that day
yesterday - the day before / the previous day
last night- the night before / the previous night
tomorrow - the next day / the following day
here - there
now - then
this - that (em expressão de tempo):this week - that week
